POWER POINT PRESENTATION by Joe WB3FMT for Field Day 2009

Camp Genyara is located just south of the Mason Dixon Line off of Interstate 83 near Parkton, Md.  Attempts were made many years ago to operate VHF/UHF contests at this location but the overall elevation is not good enough for good communications for those bands.  Operating 160 through 6 meters doesn't require an elevated site and each year the club sets up for Field Day events.

Thanks to the good weather and operator turnout this weekend (June 27-28, 2009) the club had a great score using various modes such as Phone (SSB), CW, PSK31, solar powered QRP and other point makers.  Many members of the AERO Club and BRATS Club showed up Friday afternoon to unload antennas and radio gear.  Ed, N3GXH arrived that evening with his fantastic Motorhome and graciously allowed us to use his built-in diesel generator for the weekend.  Other than a brief thunderstorm Friday evening, the weather was nice, being in the mid eighties.  One disappointment when arriving was the uncut grass other than a path coming from the dirt road near the buildings.  Eventually from tramping it down with vehicles and walking on it, it was somewhat better but everyone had to walk carefully since it was possible to trip on the bent over grass.  A good score was obtained this year thanks to some very dedicated operators who used many modes of operation, especially CW which is two points for each contact.  A brief opening on 6 meters occurred Saturday evening into the Midwest which helped along with contacting some local  stations.  Any bands above 10 meters does not add to our station class 3A, making 6 meters a point maker during openings.  Only a few were worked on 2 meters, on FM simplex and SSB.
